Fairytale
Friday, December 28th, 2007Contrary to what some have suggested on facebook, I do not think that fairytale endings happen…and from my experience of life I’m certain of it
What do other peoples think?
Hughes
Monday, December 24th, 2007By the way, what a surprise but Tim Hughes didn’t get to number one!
Neither did he make the top 10!
Or the top 20!
Or the top 40!
He wasn’t on the official download chart either!
Oh what could this mean for the state of Christianity in England?! LOL!
Christmas
Monday, December 24th, 2007Top
Wednesday, December 19th, 2007In the past at Hayley vs. Gareth we have been well known for doing various top 5’s of stuff, which spilled onto this website from the fact that me and Mark used to do top 5’s in the pub all the time
Anyway, we have been known to do this even more at Christmas, with Christmas songs and top 5 film’s of the year.
But with films this year, I’m not sure I have a top 5 that I have seen this year but I will have a good old think as to whether I have or not
In the meantime, do any of you wonderful people reading this have any ideas for possible top 5’s to end the year?
Salvation
Thursday, December 13th, 2007After the medium-ish success of my last theology type question thing (about God’s love and that) I thought that I would ask another question and see what all you clever little theologians (that’s all of you) have got to say on it…don’t worry about what you’re thinking just say it
After my fun times becoming an online wikipedia convert to Christianity and then being excommunicated and then after having a good old long think I’m debating in my head whether someone can “lose” their salvation or “give it back” or turn away from God which means they ain’t going to heaven?
Use the comments thingy to say what you think…I want to see loads of comments!
Converted
Wednesday, December 12th, 2007I found on Wikipedia (whilst reading about C.S. Lewis) a page called ‘List of people who converted to Christianity’ and after a good old read through I did not see many familiar names…in fact all of the people that I know who are Christians were not on there…
This challenged me…are we officially Christians? Are any of us converted?
Have a look soon as you never know when they will get rid of me! (is that online excommunication?!)
Compass
Wednesday, December 12th, 2007Last week I got sent an email saying that I should boycott the new film ‘The Golden Compass’ and seeing as I’d only heard about the book and that the author Philip Pullman has this hatred towards/grudge against his creator and so because of that, me and Phil Green went to see it on Monday night.
It’s so rubbish, I’m sorry for those who haven’t seen it yet but it’s such a bad film…forgetting any kind of thoughts about God or religion…it’s a really bad film that is poorly acted, very poorly written and very poorly edited, it seems to have been edited by a child with safety scissors and the obviously due to the film being an adaptation there are bits cut out (Phil told me) but there seems to be half a films worth cut out, characters are introduced then abandoned and you barely find out what happened to them. Also, the three BIG stars in the film (Daniel Craig, Nicole Kidman and Eva Green) are barely in it, Daniel Craig and Eva Green are probably in it for 5 to 10 minutes each! Worst of all though is the atrocious acting of the main star, her name is Dakota Blue Richards and I’m sorry but she cannot act, at all! The delivery of her lines makes a primary school play look Oscar worthy!
All in all, it’s pretty rubbish!
Finally, I thought that the implied thoughts or criticisms about religion and God in the film (and they are only implied as they have got rid of those bits to make the film marketable) are kind of stupid and pretty and somewhat childish and not really well thought through. The thoughts and feelings in the book may be different or more intelligent or more thought through but I can only comment on the film and feel free to add your own thoughts in the old comments thingy.
However it was fun to hang out with Phil…every cloud and all that
P.S. Oh and one more thing which may explain a lot…Philip Pullman is from Norwich…
Scumbag
Monday, December 10th, 2007After just chatting in my office with Rich, we decided that the best line from a Christmas song is…
“You scumbag, You maggot, You cheap lousy faggot”
I donno why, for me just says it all!
If anyone can think of a better one, then feel free to say so in the comments thingy
My Focus
Friday, December 7th, 2007I look into your eyes and i know you give me courage,
I cannot do anything without the help of my Saviour.
He will not let me fall,
he is part of my life and playing at all times,
day and night.
He is always with me,
he is my handbrake, my chocolate and my comfort.
he is better than a glass of red wine!
He will protect me from impurity
and guard me against Satan’s plans.
He will never stop walking with me,
even when I can no longer walk and when
everything around me is pointless.
Who else can i say these things of?
Who else can claim this, and be this in my life?
Only my Saviour, my God, my King, my friend, my everything.
I search after your heart, I search after a deeper understanding of you,
but I know I don’t need to search for your love.
That you gave to be from before time began.
When i nailed you to a cross, you saved me and showed me more Love, Grace and mercy then i could ever dream of.
Great God of all, Lord of all creation.
I am weak, I am nothing, but with you I am loved.
