Town

I’m writing this blog from the wonderful Ben Wale’s computer since his is the only computer I can get on the interweb from since the server is all messed up and virus’d and that at work and so I can’t access my emails or my work and so am reading this morning (I know…reading! Things must be bad!)

Last night due to Paul’s attendance to a gig in Norwich I got his season ticket and so went with Steve Armstrong (brother of Paul and Ruth a.k.a Team Armstrong, if you didn’t know) to watch the Town vs. Colchester game.

I figured out that it was the first time in around seven years that I had sat (or well stood) in the North Stand at Portman Road, I’d forgotten just how great and how needed standing at football really is and forgotten how brilliant singing (well shouting really) in unison with hundreds and hundreds of people is.

The game was wicked too, first half was fairly even and we were both fairly rubbish to be honest but Colchester scored with quite a sweet goal from just the edge of the box and so as me, Steve and Dave (Barker, Armstrong cousin who we sit with) went for our half time beer we was hoping Town would be better in the second half.

And how good were we in the second half??!! Within half an hour, Neil Alexander (who has a wicked chant where instead of “Come and do the conga” it’s “Neil Alexander” which is always fun!”) saved a penalty, and then Jon Walters, Liam Trotter (now called Del-Boy on the stands) and then the always brilliant Danny Haynes (he always seems to score when I go…I need to go more!) scored to make it 3-1 to the Town!

All this lead to lots of great sing songs (including some of my personal favourites’ of “Can we play you every week?” and “Are you Norwich in disguise?”) and was brilliant every time we scored we went absolutely mental and when we scored our second Steve almost went flying into the row in front because of me and Dave’s wild jumping!

I’m also going to the game on Saturday against Wolves and Ruth and Paul are back and coming too (WHOOP! HOORAY!) and so hopefully Town will be on form and run riot!
