freshers mahem!

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Hey guys, I’ve not had internet (and won’t in my house till 23rd oct…rubbish!) which is my excuse for not posting, also I’ve been mad with freshers stuff for the christian union!

Freshers has been crazy getting it all sorted, but God has taught me loads through it. I got sooo stressed and couldnt do anything, God really taught me to rely completely on him. And also he has proved just how awesome he is! hurrah for God!!

Anyway I’m sure I’ll post again soon when I find some internet!

28 blogs later

On Monday I was back in Cambridge at the ol’ Riddle Dizzle (Ridley Hall) for the start of my second year of my degree and it was really cool to catch up with all of the guys and girls from my year again and have lots of good times

On Monday night after having some food and beers in town we went back to Ridley to watch a movie and Tom (name-checked!) had brought ‘28 Weeks Later‘ with him so we decided to watch that…I can’t do film reviews as good as Tom can (check out his blog for brilliant film reviews) but I thought it was pretty good, it wasn’t as good or scary as the first one (only rarely are sequels as good) but it was enjoyable and had a fair few excellent bits in it and as Tom explained to me it is a good analogy for the Iraq war (I would explain it but I couldn’t do it as clearly as Tom did)

Also enjoyed watching my mate Brian get scared (as he did watching ‘28 Days Later‘) and watching him get quite annoyed when Ben tried to sneak up on him in the dark to scare him, was hilarious!

Kanye

Just bought Kanye West’s new album Graduation and so far I think it’s really good, its only been one listen but I like most of the songs.

There is a especially great song called Homecoming which features Chris Martin (from Coldplay and if you don’t know that then please leave this website) singing the chorus and is very very catchy and great! So catchy that me and Paul were singing it most of last Friday night…

Speaking of last Friday night, me, Paul, Crug and then later Kev went out in the ’swich centre for a night of beer and good times as a goodbye to Paul and Crug who are off back to uni, we had tons of fun and even went to Liquid and had a bit of a boogie and especially danced our socks off when they blapped a bit of Pendulum on!

Also, after Friday’s night of fun had a quite lonely Saturday since everyone’s gone and sat and watched all of Spooks series one (I am reluctant to call them seasons…I’m English! Also thanks Hayley for a great birthday present!) and I decided that when I finish my degree I am going to be a spy! But then I thought about it for a bit longer and decided against it! (maybe it had something to do with a deep fat fryer?!!! Urghh!)

Run Verow Run

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Okay, so I’m going to try and blog more as one of my New Year’s resolutions (the other being not to sin anymore) and hopefully my example will lead Hayley to blog too to maybe make Hayley vs. Gareth a fair battle again.

But what to blog about, I’m debating on some blogs at the moment but in the meantime I thought I’d tell all you people out there in interweb land about my Saturday that I just had

In the afternoon, me, Pinder, Phil Green and Paul went to the wonderful pub that is the Golf to watch the England vs. Israel game.

The Golf better than The George when it comes to watching football for a few reasons

  1. The Golf is cheaper (by 40p a pint!) therefore better
  2. The Golf has a big screen TV that they use (The George has one but doesn’t use it anymore - idiots!)
  3. At The Golf when someone put the jukebox on during the game, somebody walked over and unplugged it because everyone was getting angry! Whereas when a town game was on sky and we watched it at The George they had a live band playing! BOO

Anyway, back to the game, I predicted that England would win 3-0 and we did! Woo Hoo! (Inner monologue - maybe I should take up gambling? Oh yeah, it’s silly since I don’t have any money and I’m not a gambling person!) Pinder thought it would be more of a challenge and so only thought it would be 1-0! Stupid boy! He said something about “well, Israel are God’s chosen nation!” LMAO! To which me and Paul debated on whether their national anthem should be ‘Father Abraham’?!

Well after watching England whoop Israel (we will win Euro 08!) we went to see ‘Run Fat Boy Run‘ at the cinema, its the new Simon Pegg flick (although he’s just in it and isn’t involved any more than that, unlike Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz) and it’s really really good, its not going to be a classic that will go down in history but it is worth watching and will be worth having in your DVD collection I think.

All in all it was a pretty good Saturday.

More blogging to come soon, although tomorrow I’m off to Oxford for a few days for my college residential so be back soon

Blog, blog, blog

What shall I blog about?

Or do you want me to blog at all?
