Last night, as I sat in the Golf watching the Chelsea vs. Wycombe game waiting for Kev to arrive, I overheard a statement that made me almost laugh out loud…a guy standing at the bar watching Andriy Shevchenko play said and I quote “He’s shit…he’s the worst player Chelsea have ever had!”
Made me crack up! Let’s have a look at a ‘few’ players that Chelsea have bought who were worse…
- Winston Bogarde
- Albert Ferrer
- Frode Grodas
- Frank Sinclair
- Andy Myers
- Gavin Peacock
- Paul Furlong
- George Weah
- Pierluigi Casiraghi
- Bjarne Goldbaek
- Robert Fleck
- Jiri Jarosik
- Slavisa Jokanovic
- Bernard Lambourde
- Adrian Mutu
- Emerson Thome
The list could continue!
This is why idiots who nothing about football should keep their thoughts to themselves…especially since within two minutes of his statement, Shevchenko scored and then scored again later in the game!

I have to say that as a Chelsea fan, I agree with this list and am happy that most of these names are in general, long forgotten - however - I do think that Gavin Peacock does NOT deserve to be listed as one of Chelsea’s worst players!!! Lets see…
* He was joint top goalscorer with 14 goals in 1993/1994 (and he was a midfielder)
* He never got a red-card during his 4 years at chelsea (or his full 11 years in the premiership - well he is a Christian!)
* His one aim in football was to top his dad’s record of 595 appearances and 106 goals (and he did)
He was not one of the greatest players, but he certainly wasn’t one of the worst.
Apart from that he was a striker and not a midfielder, i agree with you Pinder! Although I wont delete him from the post, I will in my mind not have him on it!
“This is why idiots who nothing about football should keep their thoughts to themselves.”
Gavin Peacock was a midfielder.
Sorry to be a pain mate, but he played up front for Newcastle and for Chelsea…sorry
Paul…your grammar is awful.
Gavin Peacock (born 18 November 1967 in Eltham, London) is a former English professional football player who played as a midfielder.
and Wikipedia would know coz it knows everything.
Wikipedia doesn’t know everything, that is where this mistake originated ruthless
Hmmm…well, wikipedia is written by numpties like us so it isn’t always right HOWEVER i can’t believe Gareth is going against his love for wikipedia - you’d never doubt it!!
I’m not going against my love of the wikipedia (it’s still maybe my favourite website) I’m just saying they have got this piece of information wrong
And to think that I just wanted to enter this comment to say that you have neglected to include Shaun Wright Phillips… Not a rubbish player but he’s been a complete waste at Chelsea - and to think that Arsenal wanted him…
Fair enough
“* He was joint top goalscorer with 14 goals in 1993/1994 (and he was a midfielder)”
“Gavin Peacock (born 18 November 1967 in Eltham, London) is a former English professional football player who only ever played as a midfielder.” (This is from wikipedia, ruth misquoted earlier)
“Apart from that he was a striker and not a midfielder, i agree with you Pinder!”
Gavin Peacock played the vast majority of his career in midfield, he was a midfielder. On a side note, he doesn’t belong in the “woirst chelsea signings” list, what with him being a fine player and a cult figure amongst Chelsea fans. I’d go as far as to say Mutu and Paul Furlong don’t really belong there either. Wright-Phillips shouldn’t be in there. However, you could try the average players Carvahlo(sp?), Ferreira (sp?) and Del Horno.
Beth: No it isn’t, but it is far from infallible. Pray notify me of my minor error (other than to quote Gareth word for word even though he had neglected to type a sentense which made sense.)
Examples of Gareth typing synonyms for male genitalia in this post include “cock”.
He is obsessed.
