Yawning

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I have just been reminded of one of the most irritating things in the world. You know the feeling when you know you have to yawn and you try but you can’t quiet get there, and you try and try until it becomes a natural relflex to try and yawn. But time after time you fail. It’s nasty. Whilst writing this post I have tried to yawn about 8 times - no luck yet. Is it just me that has this irritating promblem?!

BULLET POINT   actually yawing and having a good stretch is one of the best feelings in the world.

When you know you’ve been using myspace too much…

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

I came to the realisation tonight that I may have become addicted to myspace. There are some signs which have been there for a while, warning me that I was getting to this state- however I ignored them thinking that they may magically disappear. Alas they did not. So here are some signs that myspace has taken over too much of your life…

  • You go out and meet someone that you already recognise and realise that it’s from their myspace profile that you were looking at only a few hours before.
  • You start taking pictures for the sole objective that you can use them on your myspace profile.
  • You check that you haven’t got any new messages 5 minutes after you last checked, which was 2 minutes after you first checked.
  • You convince your friend to add you, even though they have absolutely nothing on their myspace profile - just so that you can get one more friend and look more popular.
  • You have taken the time to make your myspace profile look pretty and have spent at least an hour searching for the background, which says the most about you.
  • When something goes wrong with the site and you can’t get in/look at the bit you want and you feel like your whole day is ruined…

… So I’m going to go and draw up a 5 point plan to how I can get over this addiction. If in the mean time you are bored my profile is www.myspace.com/hayles_c - feel free to have a look and add me if you’re on myspace. If not get on it you’re missing out!

Ginger Power!

Sunday, August 27th, 2006

As Paul recorded on his lovely new blog, I’m sitting here in Hayley’s lounge watching ‘Snatch‘ with the Ginger, Paul, Mark and Rach. I’ve been enjoying quoting lines from the movie…even if Paul isn’t keen.

Anyway, I’ve also been playing a bit on Hayley’s shiny new Mac…which is hilarious because I keep finding new things that she has no idea that she has…she’s such a sheep…the classic question comes to mind, “If Mark jumped off a bridge, would you Hayley?” Ha Ha!

Whilst playing I found a cool program called ‘Comic Life’ which lets you create comics using existing pictures…

Here is my wonderful creation! It’ll be the next ‘Spiderman’ I swear!

End of an era

Saturday, August 26th, 2006

Shhhh….it’s about to hit the fan!

Today, an era comes to its end…

Today is my last day working for Ansaback before I leave to start my degree in Youth and Community Work with applied Theology

I’ve worked at Ansaback for 4 and a bit years…I started just after my 17th birthday, thanks to my best mate Andy (who worked there) getting me an interview…

I could tell countless stories of funniness from my work days and name check loads of people but apart from Andy none of you would probably care!

So, I’ll just leave it at…

Good bye Ansaback…you’ve served me well!

I love Edinburgh!

Friday, August 25th, 2006

Firstly I want to apologise to Kev because I didnt realise that it was his brithday on tuesday. Sorry dude. I seem to be the last to find out lots of things recently… namely that my great aunt has been engaged for months and someone else I know is eight months pregnant!

But anyway, Edinburgh! Sian and I managed to have an awesome time. We saw lots of celebs (you know the C listers, where you stand there and go… is it? No… it is you know!), did the impossible in buying a pint for under £3 in a venue, lost half our body weight walking round and round the city, went to see lots of plays - none of which where rubbish - which was nice, and managed for the first time in our lives (mine anyway) to feel normal, and we walked down the Royal Mile with people dressed in orange leotards and lying flat out on the middle of the road!

My fave moment of the week was buying our cheap Greggs sandwich (sort of like bakers oven) and sitting down on the pavement to eat it, looking up and realising that we where infact outside Harvey Nicks and where everyone else was having their over priced afternoon tea. Adding to our fun Russel Brand then appeared, paparazzi in toe.

The best show we saw was called Aeneas Faversham, which was four guys doing lots of sketches, I was in fits. They’re called The Penny Dreadfuls and I wouldn’t be at all suprised if they appeared on our TV screens very soon…

When I’m Sixty Four

Friday, August 25th, 2006

On Tuesday a brilliant thing happened…I got a Nintendo 64!!!

OH YEAH!

I truly am retro!

You see, Rach’s mum and brother are moving to Australia and so can’t take everything with them so Stew couldn’t take his old N64…so he gave it to me! How lucky am I?

So, as well as the wonder of the N64 I got some games because well without them, an N64 is kinda dull! I got the classics that are ‘Diddy Kong Racing’, ‘Banjo Kazooie’, ‘Pokemon Stadium’, ‘Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time’ and ‘Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask’

I’ve started to play ‘Ocarina of Time’ and I have got hooked! It’s so addictive!

Then yesterday I went into town and went into the wonderful establishment that is Cash Converters and got three games for a fiver! The women behind the counter gave me a weird look…obviously she didn’t understand the power of an N64!

So, if anyone out there in interweb land has any N64 games that they wouldn’t mind lending me or giving me then please do so

Finally, a big shout out to my man Stewie Bruce for giving me the amazing console that is a Nintendo 64!

Kev is old?

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

A belated Happy 21st Birthday for Kev for Tuesday just gone!

On Monday night we went out to celebrate little Kevvy becoming a man!

Whilst some were notable in their absence (Paul, The Baxter, Jon Bon Jovi, Jabba the Hutt and Teddy Sheringham to name but a few) but of us that did attend (Kev, me, Rach, Mark and Hannah) we had a brilliant time!

We started out for a few drinks in the Cricketers which is your typical Wetherspoons pub…the beer is very cheap but not all that spectacular and the bar staff remind you of robots. (BULLET POINT - Maybe they are Robots? Probably not but that would be cool if they were!)

Anyway after a few drinks talking about the usual pub conversation nonsense and reminiscing about times spent with Mark before he goes :( we decided to make a move and me, Kev and Rach made our way through town unto the wonderful nightclub that is Zest! Now Zest is pretty much the same as any club…there’s music played loud, lots and lots of alcohol and lots of guys trying to dance to pull a girl who has drunk twice her weight in WKD. But on Monday nights its a bit different, now the things I’ve just mentioned are all still there but two things change…the dress code becomes pretty much “wear what you like” and the music changes from generic clubbing music to a mix of punk, nu-metal, rock also with occasional cheesy pop songs as well.

So we got in without a hassle and walked our way through to the bar…and after waiting at least ten minutes to get a drink (in which time Kev missed dancing/trying to dance to what he calls his 2nd favourite song ever, “Let the Bodies hit the floor” by I can’t be bothered to have a look) we stood and tried to look cool near the dancefloor. Then I saw a familiar face…Johnny Driver…who works at eight and the first words out of this just turned 18 year old were…”Aren’t you a little old to be in here!” AAAAHHH!!! I’m 21 not 71!! When did I get so old??!! It has just snuck up on me!

So after that disappointment and a few bottles of average beer (all they did was Stella and Bud! Come on Zest! Get Becks!) we moved our way onto the dancefloor so that Kev could bust some moves! One of the first songs we heard on the dancefloor was the classic “Break Stuff” by Limp Bizkit and that was well fun! I had a feeling that most of the people there were in Primary School when it came out but it was still fun! When the song goes mental and into good old fashioned head banging bit, a mosh pit started and me and Kev kinda got caught in the middle of it…Rachel very quickly escaped but me and Kev decided to have a little fun so we really started going for it…every little punk that tried to shove me or Kev over…we would just stand em up and shove them over…made us laugh…at the end of the song and after a heavy duty mosh pit…me and Kev shock hands and said “I think we won that game!”

Later in the night, we saw the gay guy from Starbucks…you all have probably heard about the gay guy from Starbucks…he’s the guy that Mark was convinced that he was straight and his whole gayness was just an act to get women…but we found out that he actually is gay…and seeing him on Monday proved his homosexuality…he has more eye shadow on than maybe there was on all the other women in the place put together! On which seeing this, Kev said “How on earth did Mark think he was straight?!”

We then went back onto the dancefloor, enjoyed dancing to numerous songs, especially “Livin on a Prayer” by the legends that are Bon Jovi! and then as half one came, Me, Kev and Rach made our way home after celebrating a wicked 21st birthday with my main man Hollywood Hartwell!

Preparing to go to Edinburgh

Sunday, August 20th, 2006

My old friend Sian and myself are off to Edinburgh tommorrow (at 4.45 - Morning!) so Sian came round this evening to help me pack. However we got a little distracted and decided that our time was better spent playing with my new toy - which comes in the shape of a macbook. Now this macbook has a photoBooth setting. We’ve had amazing fun, behaving like children dressing up in all my hats (which I’ve worn in PUBLIC by the way- o the shame) I thought I’d post them and give you all a good laugh, however this mac isnt so good and letting me do that (hi Mr.Walley im going to need your help!). So I’m going to be unable to write to you all for another week and therefore I leave you in Gareths more than capable hands!

Addicted

Saturday, August 19th, 2006

I need to first off apologise for not being able to post this week…the internet was and maybe still is down at CYM and the internet at home was being a bum so sorry for the failure of my promise to post every other day. Hopefully next week I’ll be able to post as much as I like.

Anyway, this last week or so, I’ve found myself really addicted to playing ‘Football Manager 2005′ on the PC. I’ve found myself playing it for hours on end, getting really into my team, figuring out tactics and everything and getting over involved in games! It’s sad I know but it got me thinking about the games I’ve been addicted to over the years…

So here in classic hayleycornwell.com style, here’s the top 5 most addicted to games EVER!

In no particular order…

  • Championship or Football Manager (going all the way back to Championship Manager 97/98)
  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on the Master System (Me and my sister Tanya played it once for like 14 hours or something! It’s more addictive than crack cocaine*)
  • Goldeneye on the N64
  • Metal Gear Solid (the first one…I thought the other ones weren’t as good)
  • Tony Hawks Pro Skater (again the first one…me and my mate Matt could and would play it for what seemed like days…After one extra long playing session, Matt once claimed that he felt the pain when his skater would crash! That’s a good sign of someone addicted to a game

*BULLET POINT - This is not actually true…Sonic the Hedgehog isn’t as addictive as crack cocaine but to be fair…it is close! ha ha!

my laugh of the day

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

I chuckled today as I heard the well speaking older gentleman on radio 2 (it was on the radio in the kitchen - which my parents choose what to listen on) intorduced Hey y’all by Outcast. I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone more arkward when introducing a song on the radio.
