In the first of what could possibly be many (or maybe the first and only)
I, your humble writer, will delve into the wonder that is the interweb and find out “Where are they now?”
First up, we have the late 90’s boy band that was 5ive.
5ive were a band consisting of SHOCK HORROR five guys; Scott Robinson, Ritchie Neville*, Sean Conlon, J (real name - Jason Brown) and Abs (real name - Richard Breen!!! Ha Ha Ha! No wonder he changed his name!)
5ive were created by Chris and Bob Herbert (The same guys who created The Spice Girls) who wanted to create a boy band-style group, but one that had “attitude and edge”
They went on to have eleven top ten hits, nine of which made the top five and three of them were the nation’s number one!
5ive however broke up on September the 27th in 2001, just choosing to say that they were “calling it a day”…Oh how all the fans cried!
But telling you about the superb band that is 5ive isn’t really what I’m here to do as I’m sure you all out there in interweb land remember how “great” 5ive were, what you really want to know is “Where are they now?”
SCOTT ROBINSON
The day after the break up of 5ive was announced, Scott married his childhood sweetheart Kerry Oaker and has a son with her. Scott went on tojoined a local Essex radio station “EssexFM” in 2002 for a few months as a radio DJ. He now currently stars in the theatre production, “Boogie Nights 2″
RITCHIE NEVILLE*
Ritchie Neville, who was quite famous for going out with Billie Piper before Chris Evans, has left pop music behind. He is now the lead singer of a band who compare their “sound” to that of The Red Hot Chili Peppers or The Smashing Pumpkins! Big claims! They have of yet, not found too much success
SEAN CONLON
Sean has almost completely disappeared from the entertainment scene, even Wikipedia has nothing after 5ive about him…Wherever he is, we at hayleycornwell.com wish him well
J (JASON BROWN)
J currently lives in North London, working outside of the music industry, although he is apparently (So Wikipedia tells me) still writing music. He reportedly enjoys travelling through Europe and since the group split up, J and Ritchie Neville, remaining friends, have taken frequent holidays together
ABS (RICHARD BREEN)
After 5ive, in November 2001, Abs went to Australia for the major pop festival Rumba! and performed on stage with boy band Blue. About a year after the breakup, Abs then went on to a solo career releasing a solo album, Abstract Theory in 2003 and having three top 10 singles in the UK
So there you have it, our first look into “Where are they now?”
